Special Correspondent (Geneva, June 8, 2024): A groundbreaking report titled “We have values that are needed” – Faith Actors and their role in Civic Space, authored by Dr. Elisabet Le Roux, will be unveiled on June 18 during a side event at the 56th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. This report is cobranded by DanChurchAid, ACT Alliance, and the World Council of Churches, highlighting the crucial role of faith actors in shaping and supporting civic space.
In anticipation of this release, a pre-event discussion with Dr. Le Roux will take place on June 17 at the Ecumenical Centre. This session, titled “How we can build, engage and fund faith actors’ agency in and for civic space?” will delve into the strategies and frameworks necessary to empower faith actors in their civic engagements.
The event will feature a short presentation of the report and its findings by Dr. Le Roux, followed by a summary from DanChurchAid outlining preliminary plans for utilizing the report. This will be succeeded by a question-and-answer session and discussions on potential areas for synergy and cooperation among faith-based organizations.
The report is expected to provide valuable insights into the integral values that faith actors bring to civic spaces and how their influence can be harnessed to promote social justice, peace, and human rights. The discussion aims to foster greater collaboration and resource mobilization to support faith actors in their civic missions.
